In 1983, the Church issued a new code of canon legislation. Not like its predecessor, the 1983 Code of Canon Regulation didn't explicitly name Masonic orders Amongst the secret societies it condemns. It states: "A person who joins an association which plots from the Church is usually to be punished by using a just penalty; a single who promotes or
